Spring 2011
Competitive Team
There is no skill level requirement for being on the team. Both guys and girls are welcome to sign up. We play in both the fall and spring semesters, with maybe a couple more rounds in the fall than in the spring. We play against other schools' club teams and some schools' D3 teams. Every match we go to is usually against one or two other teams. In the past, we've played against SUNY ESF, Ithaca, Cortland, TC3, Utica, Binghamton, etc. We usually have around 2 home matches at Drumlins Golf Course (http://www.drumlins.com/index.aspx), and around 3 or 4 away matches. We bring 6 players to every away match and count the best 4 or 5 scores. However, depending on the tournament we go to and how many players we have, we may be able to have two teams and bring 12 players. At the home matches, we try to get everyone on the course to play even if you aren't in the top 6. (You're score will not count towards the match but you will be able to at least play for free and get in a score). The people who we bring to away matches will change throughout the season depending on who is playing the best, so if you aren't in the top 6 to start out, you still will have opportunities to play competitively later on if you improve your scores. The president tracks everyone's scores throughout the year, and the people with the lowest scores will play. (Click on "stats/standings" a more in depth explanation of how scoring works). Those who do not travel to away matches are welcome to play at Drumlins that same day and get in a score so that they can lower their average. Everyone who is on the team can practice with the team/hit balls at the range, etc. in attempt to better their game. We will have one or two optional practices every week at Drumlins. Tryouts for the competitive team will be held at the beginning of the fall semester. Results from the fall will be carried over to the spring. It is possible to join the team after the fall and before the spring, just email the president.
Non-Competitive Team
If you are not interested in being a member of the competitive team, you can still be a part of the club. You can do everything that the competitive team does except play in matches. This includes practicing at the driving range, getting swing analysis, etc. A list of all the benefits can be found above.
